Nike: NYC Destroyer Jacket

New York’s creative community gathered at Nike Sportwear store at 21 Mercer in SoHo to celebrate the launch of the NYC Destroyer Jacket and the unveiling of “The NYC Destroyers” class photo shot by Bridge Runner, filmmaker and photographer Kai Regan. Class members in attendance included Ricky Saiz, Tim Brodhagen, Lucien Smith, Va$htie, Dee & Ricky and Brandee Brown. The larger than life class photo set the backdrop for the night of celebration here at 21 Mercer for an intimate circle of friends. Dee & Ricky’s limited edition “Black Apple” pin and a poster print of the photo were distributed to the participants.

1931 Subway Train

Sunday 12.13.2009 my friends Taisha and Durell and I went out for brunch in the city and as we go to catch our F train we see a strange train pull up. This train was labeled S for Special train which ran from Queens to Lower East Side. The train was built in 1931 and serviced NYC through the 70s. It was cool to see, and eveyone was taking pictures! There were old ads inside and even ceiling fans!!

Tim Burton @ MoMa

The Tim Burton exhibition @ MoMa explores the full range of his creative work, tracing the current of his visual imagination from early childhood drawings through his mature work in film. It brings together over seven hundred examples of rarely or never-before-seen drawings, paintings, photographs, moving image works, concept art, storyboards, puppets, maquettes, costumes, and cinematic ephemera from such films as Edward Scissorhands, The Nightmare Before Christmas, Batman, Mars Attacks!, Ed Wood, and Beetlejuice, and from unrealized and little-known personal projects that reveal his talent as an artist, illustrator, photographer, and writer working in the spirit of Pop Surrealism. The gallery exhibition is accompanied by a complete retrospective of Burton’s theatrical features and shorts, as well as a lavishly illustrated publication.

I had the pleasure of going to the exhibition this weekend and it was truly amazing, not only to see his work up close and personal but to see his earlier works from childhood to the present was serious! There are some pieces that will have you laughing and others that will have you questioning the man's sanity (lol). In conclusion definitely something to go and see and speaking from experience it's a trillion times better when you go with someone awesome ;-).

Cool Kids : Knocked Down video

The Cool Kids drop a new video Knocked Down, off the Gone Fishing Mixtape.
Cool Kids come back all grown up, dropped the 80's get up and showed the world that there are lyrical skills behind the hype. Though I enjoyed their earlier mixtapes more, I do give them props on this mixtape.

Check it out.

Nike Opening Harajuku Store

Nike recently setup its latest retail space in Japan, this time taking place in the historic fashion section of Harajuku. And what a beautiful set-up it is, if I may say so myself. An official opening is set for tomorrow November 14th, 2009 with a special appearance from several high profile names, including Red Sox pitcher Daisuke Matsuzaka.

Talenthouse = Genius

What is Talenthouse?

Talenthouse is a platform providing opportunities to the world’s creative community – a place to participate in unique projects with artists and brands, collaborate, gain recognition and compensation.

"This opportunity for all the artists out there is like a blessing." Russell Simmons

Not quite sure how I found this site, however it is genius! Talenthouse is where all types of artist yes that means you too... can show their talent to the big guys! This is sort of where your big break can happen if it's meant to be! I love the idea, and I think this will help a lot of people out, because the support is coming from some big names in the biz.

I urge everyone to take a look sign up and see what can happen for you!

Subway Adventures!!!!

I'm excited to announce that I am going to begin featuring a new posting on my blog which is basically entertainment for you and I. I will feature pictures that I have acquired in a very sneaky iPhone on mute kind of way, of different people or things that I see or experience on the train here in NYC.(I know it's not original) however I thought this would be cool because I see a lot of different things, mostly crazy, funny maybe sometimes cute that NYC has going on under the streets.

Anywhoo the name is sill in the works I am thinking of Subway Adventures or Subway Scene IDK if you have any suggestions PLEASE shoot! Thanx ;)

Here's one to start this off:

This guy was dressed head-to-toe in green! I mean down to the socks... had gold rings on every finger but his thumbs and of course other gold trimmings to match, I deem him the Pimp Daddy.
